Smithfield, NC dentist Dr. Oldham is a native of Kenly, NC, and has lived in Johnston county the majority of his life.
He thinks it is wonderful to be able to relieve his patients from dental pain, and it is a great thing to make people feel better about themselves- whether that means restoring discolored teeth or improving one’s ability to enjoy life more because they can eat their favorite foods without discomfort. Dr. Oldham knows how important it is to his patients to have a beautiful smile, and his goal is to help everyone achieve the smile they would love to have.
I love the people here, and I love the rural way of life,” he says. “Life has a little bit slower pace, and it’s just a great part of the state to live in.”Dr. James Oldham
Dr. Oldham’s grandfather was a dentist, and another person influencing his decision to enter the dental field was his childhood neighbor, his family dentist. Dr. Oldham’s desire for helping others and working artistically with his hands also helped make the decision to become a dentist an easy one.
Dr. Oldham graduated from dental school at the University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill in 1988 and opened his dental practice in 1989. Returning to Johnston County always was his goal.
“I love the people here, and I love the rural way of life,” he says. “Life has a little bit slower pace, and it’s just a great part of the state to live in.”
He and his wife Donna have four children- sons Spencer and Matt, and daughters Hillary and Laura. His family resides in Smithfield and they are proud supporters of their community.
When he isn’t spending time with his family, Dr. Oldham enjoys exercising (he has been a jogger for many years), fishing, and playing golf. He also enjoys cooking. He loves being outdoors and taking part in anything to do with the water, whether it’s boating or going to the beach.
